If you turn up just expecting to play, you will be in for a serious disappointment, so much so that your whole holiday may be ruined.

Despite costing a cool $495 per round, the tee times can be booked up sometimes a year ahead. It's worth noting that again - you may have to wait a year to get a tee slot, so this is your prime task before you do anything else.

The winter is obviously quieter, but that's quiet only relative to the summer scramble, so you still need to get your bookings right.

Once you pick the time of year you want to go, get your accommodation picked, and check that they have space at the same time the coincides with your tee times! That may sound obvious, but it is not amusing to get your course time booked only to find that you can't get accommodation.

Also, it will make things easier on your mind if you are aware of the extra costs that can mount up. Golf is a huge money making machine, and the folks at Pebble Beach are certainly not shy when it comes to taking it. The $495 for the round that was mentioned earlier will not include even a basic yardage chart - that will set you back $10.

Be aware that if you stay in the resort, even the cheapest accommodation will add on a daily 'resort fee' of $20. Quite what this is for is unsure, but it is the little add ons like this which can cause a shock if you are unaware.

You can also expect to find that internet access is not freely provided, that's another extra charge.

So to sum up, while Pebble Beach Golf vacations on the gorgeous Monterey Peninsula in California can be a once in a lifetime trip, get all your bookings and expenses prepared in advance to make the whole holiday that much easier.
