Cheap Beach Vacations

When looking for cheap beach vacations, there are certain ideas to bear in mind which can save you a lot of searching, and also save you being overwhelmed by the choice when you do search!

The key is to narrow down your options before you even start searching, because this means you will not waste time looking at tempting offers you can't afford.


What do you want from your holiday? Long haul flights are probably out, so it's probably best to stick to short distance flying, or it might be better still to go by car, although bear those higher fuel bills in mind.

A lot of beach locations have national or international reputations, which may be great for them, but it means the price of everything there will be correspondingly higher. It may be that there is another beach resort 10 miles up the coast which has a much lower price but offers the same facilities.

Your choice will also depend on whether you are a couple or a family, or maybe alone. A couple can enjoy cheap beach vacations pretty much anywhere, because let's face it when you are enjoying a romantic stroll along a beach hand in hand, it's the strolling that will stick in the memory, not the particular beach.

With kids you may want to pick somewhere that caters for them, whether it's donkey rides on the beach or a childrens' club they can join. Children of a younger age find they enjoy the fact that they are in a different location is vacation enough for them, they won't really have any concept of cheap or expensive.

That may not be such an easy fix for image conscious older children, so with them it may be a good idea to find out what they want from the holiday and tweak your decision accordingly.

If you are single, this opens up the possibilities of staying in beach huts, which can dramatically cut any accommodation costs. If it's not somewhere that has huts, then hostels offer a cheap alternative.

Most beach areas will have rental accommodation available, and if you are happy with self catering, the costs of hotel staff and tipping can be got rid of.

So to sum up, if you decide what you want from your holiday, look away from famous locations, consider rental accommodation instead of hotels, you'll find your choice of cheap beach vacations a much easier exercise.
